    Year of the (Rattle) Snake?

That’s a big one Steve! Western Diamondback. The IV is about the furthest west they’re found, before giving way to Southern Pacifics, Reds, sidewinders and Mojave Greens. Quail hunting in the IV a couple of years ago My buddy John drew the short straw and had to crash through some thick...

Great fishing Sat 5/19 - went DEEP

One of the best aspects of this deeeeeep fishing for ground fish is that the sport boats cannot wipe out the spots. It’s way too deep to anchor, and way too deep to drift. On the small boat, we use the electric motor on Anchor Mode. Problem solved.

Great fishing Sat 5/19 - went DEEP

Headed to the 14 Mile Bank yesterday with Dennis on the 17’ Boston Whaler “Allison Christine”. Left Dana Point Harbor at 6:30 am and first tried to make some mackerel for ling cod bait but just couldn’t find them, so left after an hour with only one in the tank. I’m new to the trendy “soft...

    The "Henshaw" is happening

It’s an unheralded bass lake. I believe they’re northern strain, not the floridas that get all the press. The Shaw is also the best crappie and catfish lake I know of. Keep nailing those toads Steve!

this is why we do not deserve to go on as a species

And from 500 yards how am I supposed to know it’s a North Atlantic Right Whale and not a South Pacific Wrong Whale? WTH?!?!?!?

this is why we do not deserve to go on as a species

Boaters are a cash cow to be milked by the state. If you own a boat, you have money and will pay your fees and fines. DFW will send two officers to Catalina to write tickets to “protect the fishery”, but ignore a bunch of “newcomers” killing 9 inch spotted bay bass on your local wharf. Hmm...

    Lion attack up north

Growing up in So Cal we never even thought to bring a gun or bear spray when camping, hiking, fishing. It all changed a few years after the ban went into effect.

    Lion attack up north

The news report I saw had the headline “Hunter Killed By Mt Lion”. So immediately many FB types are going to think “score one for the lions!”

    Shipping ammo to California

Don’t forget you can still bring ammo into CA in declared and checked luggage via commercial flights. So if you fly out of state for whatever reason, and find a good deal on ammo, you’re free to bring it back to CA.
