I have two uppers, one in 223 and the other in 6.5 Grendel. My lower has a Patriot Button which make them legal in Kalifornication. As a PS, If you do use a Patriot Button, replace the lanyard with a stainless steel split key ring. Much better, and doesn't get in the way.
Hey guys, check the info you are putting out. Regarding the shooting by water comments. I got checked by a Game Warden a few years ago and was told I couldn't shoot over water. I thought this was BS. What do duck hunters do? Well, as it turns out, there is no state law prohibiting this (that I...
I believe that you can re-configure the weapon into a non-assault weapon by removing the features (ie. bullet button, etc.) that made it an "assault weapon" in the first place. Contact DOJ to make sure, but I think all you have to do is notify them that all the "illegal" features have been...
I checked with BLM and the Deputy State Director who stated that "BLM doesn't regulate hunting on public lands" and suggested I check with DFW, which I have done. You may use any LEGAL weapon to hunt with as long as it meets certain guidelines, such as (in the case of big game) using centerfire...
Preliminary tests are indicating that the 115 TAC's like a longer seating depth. The ones seated at magazine length all flew better than those seated shorter.
I have asked for more clarification, but BLM regulations plainly state that any LEGAL weapon may be used on BLM land. As long as an "assault rifle" is legally registered to the person holding it, it may be used to hunt on BLM land in California.
I have been informed by a VERY knowledgeable person that BLM regulations specifically allow registered assault weapons on BLM land. No other place, but BLM land is OK. I will try to get the specific citation he was talking about and get back to you.
I also play with the seating depth once I get the final powder load. This Grendel has gotten spendy. I have been shooting a lot of bullets trying different powders to find the one combination that works best. The big cost was all the Barnes 100 and 120 TTSX's that never worked out. I've gotten...
I shoot 4-round groups from the starting suggested load to the top load in half-grain increments. Once I find the best load, I shoot five more to confirm. If the patterns on either side of the "best" group don't match, I sometimes do a spread around the "best" in 2/10 increments to find the...
Just shot another ladder today using H335. I got one group with 28.0 grains that measured 0.72" and another at 27.5 grains that had three of the four shots touching plus a called flyer. (My son torched off a 45-70 right next to me as I pulled the trigger). I'm going to be making up two five-shot...
This is a fairly new bullet that was designed by Barnes specifically for the 6.5 Grendel. No one seemed to be able to get their hands on any, but John at Fine Firearms managed to get two boxes for me. THANK YOU John! I loaded up a couple of ladders the other day and finally got to the range...
When you spot the coyote coming in, just stop calling. It SHOULD continue in. If it does stop, give a soft blow on the call, like a very weak cry. If it's close, just do a lip squeak.
Look up the Orange County Predator Callers. It's a great group...and very active.
I use the locator calls to find out where the coyotes are when I'm in a new area. I'll hit it, listen for a response and then move toward any response to set up a stand.
The lone female yodel howl (I call it the "I love you!" howl) works best at the beginning of pupping season when the coyotes...
Pull the bullet for sure. Never take a chance. BTW, It's sort of hard to see, but it looks to me like you are crimping too hard. It looks like there is a slight bulge on the next to last bullet on the right. Run a case up into the press and then screw the die down until it just touches the...
TOTALLY disagree with Aeon about camo. I had a yote spot me while he was at a dead run at an easy 500+ yards. I figured at that distance I was safe and did about a 45-degree turn to the right. He was GONE! Camo absolutely helps.
Hey Larry...I'm 80 and still out in the field calling critters. Got a nice bobcat the last week or so of December. (It's posted in the Varmint and Predator Hunting forum) If you are local to San Diego, get a hold of the San Diego County Varmint Callers (Google them). Great group with a LOT of...
If you're local to San Diego, you might want to Google "San Diego County Varmint Callers". Meetings are the third Monday of every month at the Ranch House restaurant in Santee. There is no meeting this month due to our Annual Banquet last week.
