    Powder recommendations 6.5 PRC

H1000 is way to slow for this setup…it will work and be temp stable but leave hundreds of fps on the table. It is a solid powder for 140 gr to 160 gr lead bullets. N560 and RL26 have been my go to but I hear that H4350 works great along with some other powders like staball. Checkout hammers...

Interesting chat with Steve from HAMMER bullets

It depends on my expected maximum target range. If I am likely to shoot 400y and in, I would load up something like the 150 gr hammer going 3500 fps. Zero at 100 yards and then dial to your MPBR zero at your altitude hunting (going to be 290y at sea level for this case). All shots within 340...

Interesting chat with Steve from HAMMER bullets

Assuming those are impact velocities, that is a very even choice and would likely produce similar results, but I would lean to bigger diameter bullet because that is what I have more first hand experience with. The guys who are "testing" hammers in Australia came up with velocity brackets...

Interesting chat with Steve from HAMMER bullets

Great podcast...though I didn't realize I was a dork until @Stikbrandon called me out. Almost all of my kills have been copper bullets, but after spending a ton of time digging into how bullets kill...they are just not as efficient as lead. Permanent wound cavity matters and a 4" to 6" wound...

    Kowa 553 (SOLD)

Speaking of which, here is a video of my dad's bull this year. Got within 400 yards the night before the season opened and took a video with ollin and kowa 883...don't mind my loud breathing into phone. Now I know to not have my face in the phone when videoing. Next morning, they were within...

    Kowa 553 (SOLD)

My only gripe about this Kowa is that Ollin does not have an adapter for it yet. I am obsessed with the ollin adapters right now and carried my 88 mm spotter around just to use it. Lol

    Hunting with LRC Rifles

I can shoot extremely light rifles well at a range but have found that under high stress situations and in field positions my form goes out the window. However, I never want to carry more weight then necessary. So i have found that I prefer my rifles between 8.5 to 9.5 lb all in. It is a great...

    First Lite

I use their brooks down as my puffy. weighs next to nothing and keeps me warm with merino baselayers to single digit weather. I agree on the solid colors, their brown and green are great.

    Utah General Deer

That 4x4 will live rent free in my head for a long time and remind me to never walk up a hill without my rifle. It’s been a while since I had a good reminder about that.

    Utah General Deer

I burned point this year to draw general buck tag in Utah. Talked with Drew and we decided to have his oldest son (Lil Drew) go with me. Long story short, almost did not make the hunt and had to cut down the hunt 9 day season to 2 full days plus two travel days to fill two tags. I did my...
