Not sure on what conditions the fields were left in. The land owner was not sure how far the farmer had worked on the fields. When we were there in February had had just started. He had burned all the checks and was just starting to disc the fields

And like you said earlier with all the birds concentrated where the water is expect to see a huge die off due to botulism. And the birds that do survive when the food source is gone on the refuges where do they go.
I think it will be a larger area when everyone gets notified. There were fields on the east side last year that were left fallow because of water. So I believe there will be more this year.
