Checked my cameras last weekend. They were out for most of Jan.
Lots of deer. 100+ pics (several spikes and two nice forkies) plus this big Mountain Lion.
He was RIGHT UNDER MY TREE STAND and about a 1/2 mile from my basecamp site during deer season. From the time stamps, he was there from...
My strategy is sit in an area around sunrise for 2 hours and 2 hours before sunset.
Look for movement. Almost don't need binos/spotting scope
Rest of the day, move and glass hillsides..
Skull cap pictures are on the taxidermy page. The 3x3 with my 2x? D16 deformed forkie.

Didn't want to double post.
Deformed rack. Second one like it from the same valley. Must be a bad gene pool going around. Had another deformed spike on the game camera.
1st pic is from two years ago. 2nd is from a game camera a week ago. 3rd is the one I just got today, 15 Nov 2015.
I make my own skull cap mounts.
Slice a layer of barked oak from a log, attach the mount, then put the cartridge (with year engraved) below it.
I'll try and post a picture when I get a chance.
Cold morning in D16 today. Only saw a little spike and a few does.
3 months of game cameras, 11 days sitting in a rock blind, 8 nights in a tent, cold mornings and hot days, and a grueling 3 mile pack out on closing day.
I saw him on day 2 of the season for a half second at 300 yards...no shot. Got him on the game cameras 4-5 times at night and then last...
5 nights and 6 days out tenting it so far. Still have not seen the big 2x2 in the photo.
Did get a 1 second glimpse of a beautiful 3x3 at 8AM one morning at 220 yards.
Never saw him again...
Leaving tomorrow night for 3 more night and 3 days (F/Sa/Su). Then back on for the holiday.
Hope...
Will leave after dinner and hit the hills. Packed in a tent and 5 gal of water Friday.
Should get there by midnight and hunt for this guy Sun-Wed.
Got the picture 15 Oct time: 1:32AM. Hopefully he's showing his face in daylight.
