    Hammer Reloading

I have found with hammers just load them up in 1gr increments until you hit pressure. Back of 1 gr and mess with crimp setting for cleaning up ES / SD and 100y group size. Hammers are an easy button, no need to over think it. Though my only difference between what I do with hammers and...

Interesting chat with Steve from HAMMER bullets

Do you have pictures to share? How was the meat ruined? Did he break the knuckle and send bone fragments everywhere? I am also impressed if a hammer ruined a bunch of meat at 400 yards...would love to see pictures of that too.

Sale - Lots of Glass, Tripods, Trigger, Scope... more

I 100% agree that the Nikon HG is unbeatable for the price. If I didn't already have my Maven's as my backup pair I would be all over it.

    Bitter sweet year

Love the girls! My cow this year was so old that her ivory was at gumline...yet she is still tender. She was big and leery but gave me the best shot angle.

I did the same thing and I don't regret it one bit.

    Any 308 fans? What load?

Do you have a brake on it? I have zero concern with the 124 gr pills even on elk. A "field tester" of hammer bullets has killed several buffalo with them out of a 300 RUM. My biggest concern is BC and wind drift. For the hammers, I haven't messed with the HHT but the other pills have shot...

    Any 308 fans? What load?

The 168 ELD-M or TMK (serria tipped matchking) will be your best overall for out of state. I've shot their old 152 HH out of my 308 for a while with good results, I'm sure the 154 HHT will be similar. I would even be tempted to look at the 124 HH to see what speeds you can get.

    Powder recommendations 6.5 PRC

Yeah I agree about their burn rate being same on the chart but in testing they are very different. With H1000, N565, Retumbo, I run out of case capacity way before I hit pressure. I never could hit 3200 fps with my 6.5 PRC and 124 hammers using H1000. RL26 is a freak, it is the exception for...

    Powder recommendations 6.5 PRC

H1000 is way to slow for this setup…it will work and be temp stable but leave hundreds of fps on the table. It is a solid powder for 140 gr to 160 gr lead bullets. N560 and RL26 have been my go to but I hear that H4350 works great along with some other powders like staball. Checkout hammers...

Interesting chat with Steve from HAMMER bullets

It depends on my expected maximum target range. If I am likely to shoot 400y and in, I would load up something like the 150 gr hammer going 3500 fps. Zero at 100 yards and then dial to your MPBR zero at your altitude hunting (going to be 290y at sea level for this case). All shots within 340...

Interesting chat with Steve from HAMMER bullets

Assuming those are impact velocities, that is a very even choice and would likely produce similar results, but I would lean to bigger diameter bullet because that is what I have more first hand experience with. The guys who are "testing" hammers in Australia came up with velocity brackets...

Interesting chat with Steve from HAMMER bullets

Great podcast...though I didn't realize I was a dork until @Stikbrandon called me out. Almost all of my kills have been copper bullets, but after spending a ton of time digging into how bullets kill...they are just not as efficient as lead. Permanent wound cavity matters and a 4" to 6" wound...

    Kowa 553 (SOLD)

Speaking of which, here is a video of my dad's bull this year. Got within 400 yards the night before the season opened and took a video with ollin and kowa 883...don't mind my loud breathing into phone. Now I know to not have my face in the phone when videoing. Next morning, they were within...

    Kowa 553 (SOLD)

My only gripe about this Kowa is that Ollin does not have an adapter for it yet. I am obsessed with the ollin adapters right now and carried my 88 mm spotter around just to use it. Lol
