Well everyone, looks like the Forest service is going to be on a tax payer funded hog hunting expedition. With the financial mess everyone is in, they sure have some nerve to approve this BS.

I love how they use the term "professional hunter" in there. Wonder how much "professional hunter's" get paid to hunt pigs from a helicopter. I'm sure people would pay serious coin if it was offered to the public. Nope, lets use taxpayer money. These are not difficult decisions to make in my book.

Oh yeah, and they'll using DOGS and BAIT!

Right, supposedly a outfit from New Zealand got the bid. Same group that cleared Santa Rosa island of pigs, deer, and elk. I dunno I been hunting hogs with dogs since I was young so I'm wondering what makes a "professional" hunter. And we still have to buy pig tags and pay these guys to hunt.

I am a professional hunter. So feel free to send me your money and I'll do my best to eradicate the pigs

If pigs are such a problem why not waive the tag fee to get more people more hunters here to get rid of them. If they eratticate the hogs here I want my money back on my tags!

Tags are cheap. That's not the issue. Read that report and it should give you a good Idea of what's going on. Politics plays a role as well. I know quite a few hunters that purchased pig tags "just in case" they see one. They are in pocket when deer hunting but aren't going out pig hunting.

Matagai has some experience hunting them. They inhabit some difficult country to access. Good luck with your tags. Not an easy feat.

Not sure about the rest of you I'd at least four nights a week. I found fresh signing handful times and went back The following morning to find more fresh fresh sign

Night hunting would be awesome. Like Breacher said politics play a huge role in the SD hog issue. Most of the study done on our hogs here was done behind a desk at the SD natural history museum and not in the field as they want people to believe. Bottom line is the environment and terrain of SD is completely different from the agricultural lands of Texas. Unfortunately these decisions were made without properly considering the public input.

We are aloud to do coyotes at night just not during deer season. Same should be with pigs
