The Bobcat Protection Act of 2013
Piece by Piece they are trying to take it all away. Some guys say "well I dont hunt Bobcats, so this doesn't effect me". A lot of guys said the same thing about the Hound Hunting bill that passed last year. This is how they will eventually Ban ALL hunting and Fishing in this state. With all the Gun Control talk, this is when they try to slip this kind of stuff under the radar.
Like always, there is no science or logic behind this. Just like when they passed prop 117 in 1991 to protect the mt lion.

Well I won't argue with you.....but you're wrong. I emailed Assembly Member Bloom, who wrote up the bill, to express my displeasure with how he spends his time, encouraging him to focus on significant human problems vs. bobcat trapping.

This is the reply that I got from Assembly Member Bloom's office.

"Mr. xxxxxx,
Thank you for your email. Please note that bobcat hunting would be unaffected by AB 1213. The bill only bans trapping of bobcats, and only when done for commercial purposes. Commercial trapping of bobcats is by far the biggest threat to bobcats in California, whereas hunting has a relatively minor impact. We have worked with our Legislative Counsel to craft a bill that is narrowly focused in order to adequately protect the bobcat population while leaving recreational hunters unaffected.

I personally don't trap bobcats. Need a trapper's license for that. I've never even killed a bobcat yet alone intentionally gone out hunting them. This is the liberal attempt, influenced by the tree huggers and other animal rights activists, to put an end to hunting. So a ban on bobcat trapping doesn't affect you? Maybe not directly but indirectly it will in the long run.
