Ammo by mail?

What are the restrictions on buying ammo, and having it shipped UPS ground, here in CA.?
I believe there is a restriction on hand gun ammo. ( can not be shipped, it needs to be face to face transaction)
Rifle ammo can go UPS or Fed-ex, but not US mail.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

I have ordered and recieved all types of ammo by mail. Always comes ground.
