Ive been looking into bear hunting for next year and Im looking for some advice. I'm told that the closest area is d14 but any advice on other zones that are not more than a 5 hour drive would be appreciated

I will be paying attention to this thread and also interested in killing one. I'd go now

Just make a trip up to the Sierra's, D8 D9 X10. I deer hunted all of those zones and between my three buddies and me I'd say we saw 12+ bears. With no hound hunters the population is just going to explode. We've taken 880 of the 1700 quota with 24 days left of the season, that's a lot of bears left over to reproduce.

Last week I couldn't make a stand without walking across a set of bear tracks.

Just make a trip to Giant Sequoia Guide Service and see Neil. He is a bear finding machine!
