hahahaha I killed our first rattle snake for the year, small one, hit with the 410 nothing left to take a picture. hiking out there be careful, mindful. have your gaiters on.
Hunter there was nothing left of the snake. it blew it apart , 12 gauge is way over kill.410 is a poor choice, you need at least 12 gauge 3 inch #4 shells to reliably take down a rattler!
We owe it to the rattlers to use magnum duck shells for a humane kill, in my opinion!Hunter there was nothing left of the snake. it blew it apart , 12 gauge is way over kill.
If you're using a 12 gauge 3 inch you're just a skybuster...er...snakebuster.410 is a poor choice, you need at least 12 gauge 3 inch #4 shells to reliably take down a rattler!
normally the shovel is the go to tool, but we have a lot of boulders and such, and hard to reach sometimes. my second choice is 22 bird shot, but the little 410 make short work. nothing left of the head.Buddy of mine is a fire captain and deals with snake calls all the time. He told me a story about his old timer engineer...
If a lady calls about a snake in the yard, the old timer just goes and kills it with a shovel and asks no questions.
If they show up, and there’s a guy standing there my buddy said he has to race the engineer over to him because he always tells the guy standing there “I hear you called to borrow a shovel” and they’ve caught some hell for it before, lol.
Everytime I see a snake I laugh thinking about that.
Hey there LB2 what u doing breading those damn things.Buzz worm #3 near our pond.
roflmfao back in my marine days (2nd recon bn.) we used to do that with lizards to gross out the grunt's during war gamesI pick them up behind the head and then bite it off. Don't want to ruin all that good meat.
