ca big game digest is out

Nice! Gonna hit an x zone this year loved the areas I hit last season although it'll be earlier in the year for archery.

Thanks! I was wondering when this was coming out. A22 is premium again while D16 is now unrestricted, like it should be.

Great point Dan. It's on page 8 for those who want to see the changes for themselves.
So I guess I should be allowed to put in for PD as first choice, followed by A22, and purchase D16 OTC? That would be sweet.

Ok, that is what I was going to ask. So that will now allow us to get both A22 and a D16 tag, correct? Sweet!!!

Just noticed two more things. Mandatory harvest reporting even if you are unsuccessful. If you dont report you will be charged $20 non-reporting fee on next years application. Also must retain tag for deer until March 1, but that requirement is still subject to review at a meeting on April 8, 2015

I still had both last year. Its just easier this year. Unless you dont draw A-22. Nice new avatar BTW. I think you had Cartman for years....lol

I suppose you could put in for G23 as one additional possibility in the draw, maybe after A22. That gives the option of antlerless during D16 season. The new DFW Deer Management Plan says they are re-thinking limits on doe harvest for population management. It'll be interesting.

I like that the Junior license age was raised to 18! I heard that they had proposed it but I guess it's official. I have a 15 year old so he'll get an extra couple of seasons on the cheap (technically me). Unfortunately, my older son turns 18 in May so we will just miss that one. Oh well, win some and lose some :)

So I bet D16 will be draw again next year along with A22.......I'm going D12 this year and D16.......I guess

And don't forget this year we have to use COPPER.........so when you loose blood call me and I'll get the dogs on the trail to find that deer......

If im correct Big Game lead ban doesnt go in effect until 2019. The only time you need non-lead (big game)for now is if in Wildlife Areas and Ecological Reserves or in the already non-lead areas, and also for Big Horn Sheep in any area.

I believe 2019 is when it has to be implemented no later than. They could do it as early as they deem all bases are covered or whatever logic they plan on using.

this is what the BGD says

Major highlights of the proposed phase-in regulation include:
1. Non-lead ammunition will be required for all
hunting on CDFW property beginning with the
2015 hunting season;
2. Bighorn sheep hunters will be required to use
non-lead ammunition beginning with the 2015
season.

"Proposed". They aren't implemented yet.

This proposal was based on
public input received at 14 public scoping meetings
held at various locations around the State and from
the written comments provided from those who could
not attend the scoping meetings. The proposal being
considered
for adoption can be found under the "Meetings"
tab at www.fgc.ca.gov (meeting documents) or

Well if the DFW had any balls they'd have a drop dead date for everything forward non lead.......but that would bankrupt the dept with the lack of revenue & the phone calls would be crazy......finally Sac town would get an ear full from our side......

Doing it this way is just so confusing.......it's like not marking the boundaries of the MLPA areas.......hmmmm

Eeeerrrrrrr

I can't find the documentation I received from them in January that spelled out the timeline in detail, with explanations. Lead-free shotgun ammo is this year, rifle is next year. Does anyone else have that document?
