d16 is sold out! guess we will have to put in for it next year :( :( :(. since a22 didnt sell all its tags in the draw, does this mean next year it wont be a premium tag? ??? ???

If I understand it right here is how it would go, anybody feel free to correct me if im missing something:

If a22 sells out on July 2nd it will still be a premium tag next year.

If there are any a22 leftover as of july 3rd it will be restricted next year which means you can get it OTC as your 1st tag if you dont enter the draw.

If you do enter the draw and just apply for a preference point as your first choice you may be able to get the a22 as your 2nd choice, provided it doesnt sell out before the draw.

If you enter the draw and get a premium tag or restricted tag you would have to wait until 1st business day after Aug 1st to get it if there is any leftover which I doubt there will be.

Once a premium it stays a premium tag unless they take it away.

I have talked to dfg or (DFW) :) people that have worked the purchase counter for years and they have yet to see a tag return to normal status.

So next year when the D16 is a premium tag I am sure it will not be completely drawn during the premium tag application time.

So when the tags are not all drawn then this happens.

You may purchase your tags over the counter. If you are purchasing your first deer tag then you may purchase it July 2 and buy the left over premium tag. If you already have your 1st deer tag then you aren't available to purchase a premium tag over the count until Aug 2.

This is how I understand it and have known for it to take place

LAMMMMMMEEEEEEEEE

Well I guess only people who REALLY want to hunt San Diego will be putting in for those tags. Lots of people who apply for points will be in a pickle and have to decide what they really want. Most aren't going to burn points to hunt a forked horn bush buck in this county.

That is the great news about it. More for me :) Hopefully more deer to grow old

It will not help the deer at all. The tags will continue to sell out and the same pressure will exist on the deer.

That sucks. With 3000 tags for d16 I would hope there should be plenty left after Aug 2nd.
