Dogs and Mosquitos

Mosquitoes still an issue? I might spray my dog a bit when I spray myself. I avoid spraying her face.

Big concern for me is heartworm which dogs can get from mosquitoes (which Wister has a lot of) so my dog has been on Trifexis since she was a pup. No fleas, ticks and heartworm prevention all in one

Thanks. Some spots seem to be worse than others and after a rain it seems to be bad. Also, I hunt the afternoon until end of shoot time which is also a bad time. I hadn't heard of Trifexis and I thought heartworm was a shot they got at the vet with the puppy vaccinations, so thanks for pointing that out. Will have to look into this more and see what the Vet did. I currently have him on NexGard for fleas and ticks which was recommended by the Vet. Not cheap, about $25/month. Looks to be a comparable price to Trifexis. Found this quick comparison of the two https://www.allivet.com/t-nexgard-vs-trifexis.aspx .

I read that DEET is not good for dogs. I have read that Picaridin and permethrin are safe but haven't tried either of those on him yet. Of course, it seems to be his face that bothers him the most and swells around the eyes. Looking for tried and true solutions that have worked for others in the mosquito infested marshes that we all occupy. Thanks again.

Ok, I haven't had really any mosquito issues this season but last season I did and I remembered that I was using this stuff I had bought that worked well. It's for mosquitoes, ticks, flies and others bugs. Since I'm not hunting this weekend I decided to go through my crap and found it, here is a pic.
What do you use to keep the mosquitos off your dog?
