Starting to stretch the legs on her a little. Hammers are shooting good at 100 (pic below, one shot, adjusted scope followed by 3 shots), then took her to 200. Will try 400 in a couple weeks. Pretty sweet video of the vapor trail here!

It’s a 338 SS, so not a fire breather by any means. Running 63.6 grns of RL17. That sends the 213 grn HH out at 2940fps. The gun is pretty light. In the 6s without scope. With scope mounted it weighed in at 8lbs 9.7oz. Recoil wise it kicks a little harder than my 300WSM with 215 Bergers, but those are 100fps slower and the WSM weighs about a pound more so makes sense.

I love the hammer trails. Every always comes and sees what I am shooting at PWG when they see it. BTW that is a killer setup, pushing those 213's near 3000 fps in a short action is something I could get into.

I am going to try some of the 175's with H4350 soon with a goal of hitting 3700 fps...if I don't pressure out it will be with around 100 grs in my 338 RUM.

I thought about the 175 when Steve came out with them. I was able to get these 213s over 3000fps, but had a stiff bolt and ejector marks. At 2940 easy bolt lift with no ej marks so I settled there. The 175s could probably hit 3100 or a little higher, pretty sick little package.
I’m shifting focus now to the 250 Bergers I have on hand. Just bought a couple lbs of varget, so we’ll see what happens! Rich says the SS should be between 2750-2800 with the 250 Berger. Just need to find the time!

Loaded hammers for a pig hunt a few weeks ago and had no idea about the vapor trails they produced. Was worried the first few shots, hahahaha.

That thing looks pretty fun. Nice shooting!!
