Since it was last year I am sure most of you know about this but it strikes me as odd that mountain lions would be protected here in CA. The article specifically says that they are not endangered so can anyone explain why they are protected?

Nope. Not unless the same flaming liberals decide they're done getting eaten. But even then it won't fall to hunters. The state will bring in outside help, and us taxpayers will have to pay for it.
