I'm off to Iowa for a whitetail hunt! I was lucky enough to get drawn and have a great friend that lives there. Let the slugs fly true!
 
Seeing many deer at sunset. Missed one at 230 yds yesterday. Still have the afternoon hunt today and tomorrow. Snow on ground and more tonight; temps between 10-20 .

I assume you didn't attempt a 230 yd shot with a slug ;)

Yeah, you're right. Adding it up I think I'll stick to my current wish list of a spotting scope and rangefinder for this off-season.
 
I'm back in SoCal today from Iowa. We saw many deer, but no bucks until last night at sunset. I hit this bulky six point (3x3) at about 120 yds, then he ran for 150 yards and piled up. I nicked his heart. I'm thankful for this memorable Iowa whitetail hunt with an old USMC buddy.

Thanks, No, I ate a G10 and D16 tag this year. I did buy a new Sako .270 for next season though. Merry Christmas!
