Leapord shark

Down here in SD, many guys will catch hand-sized surf perch and use them for bait if I'm not mistaken. I've caught small ones on sand crabs, and I've seen others caught on squid or mackerel chunks.

squid, mackerel strips, shrimp

they eat a lot of the same stuff as surf perch so ghost shrimp, lug worms, mussels...

If you have fresh dead squid I would suggest that.

If you have an asian market near you go buy a 20 pound block of squid and cut it into rings and throw a handful every 10 minutes or so. Fish a whole one on a dropper loop and one with a slider.

You will probably catch a sea bass where you are fishing first, or maybe a halibut...
