Last I looked M-6 took a point to guarantee drawing. Why is that? Just because of less competition at that time? It seems a little late for the rut and the season is short but what am I missing?

With only 80 tags available and 87 1st choice applicants its not really "saught after". I will say that being able to hunt that late in the season is why it would be wanted though. I think most who put in for it get it every other year hence why it takes a point. Same as g13 really.

I can see that. It still does not make a lot of sense to me with d16 having a longer season, better equipment (rifles), and better rut dates. Maybe for the guys who have Oct/Nov filled up with other hunting, going out of state or something like that.

In addition to the above, the muzzleloader guys are a proud bunch. Give them a dedicated season and they'll be stoked on it.
I could see that. In my book the guys who have limited capability (archery and muzz) should have preferred dates but its whatever I guess.
