Went out yesterday aboard the new seaforth for yellowtail yesterday and had a great time even though I didn't catch any. I threw the iron from the bow as I usually do because I am the worst bait fisherman you will ever meet. At our first stop I got a minor back lash and as I was picking it out my line goes slack and a few second later line starts buzzing off my reel and I thought great I'm bit. I fought him with no luck moving him for 5 minutes then I turned his head and he came to the surface and he was a big hammer head probably 10 or 12 feet long according to the deckhand that was right next to me. I fought him for a few minutes then the captain decided to move spots and a deckhand broke him off for me and I was kinda mad the shark stole my lucky jig. Only one fish as far as I know was caught on jigs the rest were on bait. I even fished bait for a bit and All I got on bait was a bad tangle. I also went out on the twilight trip and man that was fun we were targeting calicos and they sure wanted to play. I caught probably 30 barely short calicos on plastics and never even picked up the live bait which was to big for calicos in my opinion but I was wrong they caught some big ones on live bait but I'd rather catch them on plastics. No pictures of the calicos but one of the deckhands got go pro footage off the hammer head. Here's a picture of my plastic in case you think I'm lying.
