I have a question? Does not one here have jr high or high school kids? Do you and they are not interested in hunting? Do you have kids but dont want to hunt with them? your wife or kids mom wont let them? or......

My oldest 15 in july has been hunting for 2 years and i though that was late in life. My others son 12 and my 11 yr old daughter are getting the licenses next weekend. I hunt with them every chance i get and its really fun and they learn alot. But do most hunters not hunt with there kids?

im just curious if im different?

Have two daughers and one loves to hunt the other will have nothing to do with it. My oldest started last year when she was 15 but I should have been smart like you and started hunting with her when she was younger. My youngest (13) likes to target practice but the only thing she wants to kill is just that a target not an animal. I love taking them to the range or taking the oldest on a hunt.

My kids are all grown but my oldest (27 yo) lives in San Diego. He shoots with me at the range and we fish together, but he hasn't hunted. I'm trying to get him to come to the banquet with me to meet some of the SCH community

im hoping to make it out to the BBQ also. We will see. Im just asking because i dont see many people talking about hunting with the kids. A few but not many and my son really wants to meet other kids that hunt. Its not like he can really talk about it at school so he feels kinda out of place. Maybe a kids hunt or something? family camping hunting trips with a few familys and high school kids is in order? I dont know if other kids have the same kind of issues maybe its just the stupid are we live in and no acceptance of guns and hunting.

I tried really hard to get my son into hunting. Took him to hunter safety at 10 years old, killed his first deer at 12 years old, shot another when he was 14. He has killed a fair number of coyotes with me. Now he is 22 years old and just wants to work go to the gym and hang with his buddies. The only hunting he does with me now is the opening day dove hunt.
My daughter never wanted anything to do with hunting.

im sorry to hear that. I hope my kids keep it up and teach my future grand kids. If you need a step child to take out and show the ropes of coyote calling im always here for you. i get so bored this time a year.

Hey LP, wanna adopt me?

There's definitely hunters on this site that hunt with there kids. If you look at some of the post by members of the Gteam. You will see youth hunters from 8 years to 18 and it's a blast hunting with them. Good Hunting to you and your family ;)

thats awesome ;D i hope my youngest will have smiles like those kids when they start this year.

My boys have been hunting with me since they were 4 and 6. I really enjoy the moments I spend with them in the woods more than the kill. My oldest son, who just turned 15 will be moving out here in a few weeks. They are 15, 11, and 9 now, they all are scheduled for a July 19 hunters ed class on Camp Pendleton.

thats sounds great mine are the same general age. my son is stoked about his 2nd full year of hunting and wants to make friends im hoping to make it to the big BBQ for the forum

I have a 3 year old that has been on quite a few bird hunts waterfowl and upland. He has been on a few yote hunts only one kill though. Deer scouting /I have no baby sitter hunts. I'll take him and my niece both under 4 it's crazy but They have fun.

The part about him starting so young is he looked at every animal as food. If we went to the zoo all I would hear is "dad can we eat that" or I got him a box turtle. He would ask and tell every one that "we are going to eat my turtle".

thats great i love it. I have step grandchildren (9 of them) but 3 of them i see every day. the middle one is 4 and i wants to go already. i can talk mom or my wife into letting me take him out yet. I do have him tactically clearing the house with his plastic mp5

I was blessed to have hauled my son all over the Western United States hunting with him from the age of 5. By the time he was 12 he had already shot just about everything. But more important than that - I spent many, many hours in the field with him. Something I will cherish and reflect back on throughout my lifetime.

My son is 24 this year and still continues to want to hunt. There is nothing more satisfying than watching your kids grow up afield. And they are never to old to start.

I have been lucky to be on both sides of it. 37 years of my dad being my hunting partner and now I'm taking my 3.5year old out. Best times of my life

This was my first year hunting. I have 3 daughters. My 13 year is very interested and will take hunters safety class this summer. She has been to the range and has her own bow. My 10 year has no interest in hurting any animal, she even tried to be a vegetarian. (She didn't make it through the first day:)
My six year loves to fish and wants to "gut them" and eat them, so maybe she will hunt when she is a bit older. My wife is not interested in hunting at all and won't let any of them go with me until they take the class. So hopefully in the fall my older one will shoot some birds.

sweet! my 7 year old boy has been going with me lately, just trying to find some pics. but hes been fishing with me since he was 2

just started taking my 12 yr old grandson, he is way hooked and taking the safety class this sat

It's so important we pass this on to our kids and grand kids. My kids love hunting with my dad.
