Rain impact on D16 success next weekend?

I’m liking the rain today. It’s been a while and most of the seasonal ponds/puddles had dried up. But now I’m wondering how it will impact our D16 chances next weekend? Will the deer move because new water is available? Will deer return to areas they were before things dried out? Will deer be more active? Will the rut speed up?

Windy , cloudy and cold this morning. Up on the high mountains. I believe the cold will push the rut. With cooler weather we should see more dear movement. Except the high winds may push to seek shelter from the wind. Ravines and punch bowls. Or mountain areas with less wind and protected. It seems like the wind is blowing from North West to South.

It's not going to rain enough to create new water sources, if that's what you're asking.

The drizzle today may have them move around a little more than usual today but definetly was not enough rain to create new water sources besides the temp puddles today. This week heats back up and cools down towards the end of the week. Opener looks to be in low 70s. Not too bad will take it

its going to be 100 with 40 mph winds by monday... pretty safe to say no impact :) go hunt. deer do not just sleep when its not "deer" weather

Ya 100 Monday and Tuesday it will cool off by next weekend. I don't worry about all that stuff though I just get out no matter what. Figure my odds are better from the field then on my couch.

Don't get me wrong I do blame weather, moon, etc for my lack of success all the time. I think it is something that comes naturally in men makes us feel better about our poor skills.

Hot as hell or cold and wet the deer are still there. Weather does determine the way I hunt certain weather but still get out there no matter what.

I can't wait to go hunt, this wind is perfect to sneak up on bucks down here in the desert. They hide in the deep wash pockets. I hope to catch one with dust in it's eye. The wind is blowing crazy down here.

Lol , rain or shine. It looked as it was going to snow. .I bet Laguna got soaked. Wait and see. How weather proceeds. But far as yes I prefer cooler weather.

I was way off regarding last week’s rain having a lasting effect. I went by a seasonal pond today and it was nearly dried up from two weeks ago. The heat, dry air (are these Santa Anna winds?), and high winds are convection cooking the little ponds in a matter of days. But in a different area I did see a little spring from OnxMaps (blue dot on Onx) which is still trickling.
