Looking for recommendations for a shooting stick for deer season. I've always shot prone off my pack but I want to add some versatility this year. Hoping to spend no more than $100 and have it be easy to hike with/operate in the field (lightweight, telescopic, etc). Suggestions?

waiting to hear about good sticks
Same here...I shoot with a tripod and rifle clamp. Practice out to 500 yards and very difficult to do which requires front sling tension to one of the legs. I'm comfortable with a 300 yard shot with it. The set up with a tripod is heavy and takes some time also.

I would like to know also some suggestions/tips about sticks.

Surfnhunt- I'm glad your looking into sticks. Not all shots can be taken from prone like they say. I practice prone 95% and the rest is tripod or benched. So glad i spent some time with the tripod, since that was how I took my deer last year. Standing.

Sorry I should have clarified! Bipod. I have killed a lot of game using them from pigs to bears, always great to have a set on you while out hunting.

Taft, ever use your bipod for spotting scope? Wonder if I can get away without tripod.

I have, but only to check out head gear for a second. I have used them many times for my binoculars though, if you are only glassing out to 800 yards or so, or only glassing for short amounts of time, then they are really great. I've had my primos bipod for like 5 years and my little cousin was messing with them the other day and broke them... So I guess I'm going to have to order another pair lol

Jason,
Primos Jim Shockey Gen 2 deluxe trigger sticks (tripod) are a good option. Frequently marked down under $100. Very convenient in the field. Lightweight, drop down to 24".
