Since this is my first year hunting with a Bow I have never experienced Laguna on opening day..... WoW it looked like a swap meet. I actually had a guy walk right on in and sit at the base of the tree I had a stand hung in, he actually used the cuttings at the base of the tree for cover????? After a couple of minutes I dropped my flashlight on him and asked him if he knew I was up there, he said yes and asked why, Why I was absolutely amazed ??? All in all it was a good learning experience for me, and who can complain about getting to spend a day in the outdoors chasing deer.

The rain and heat has really changed the deer in my area.

There is nothing more irritating then opening day for me. I can't stand all of the lame hunters. Some hunter actually took a crap and left all of his TP right on a path. You mean you can't do that in a better place.

All of the stupid road hunters or people that set up a tree stand right off the road and they get mad because people keep coming in. What do you expect moron people don't fly into their stand.

There was a guy walking around picking moss off of tree for some crazy reason. Two hunters walking around talking on their radio's so loud that they didn't even need the radio. They wonder why they don't see deer. I wouldn’t even be out if it wasn’t for trying to get my kid his first deer.

One of my friends was hunting and sitting in an area and a guy comes in and sit down 15ft from him. The guy is walking looking at his GPS trying to find the exact some spot he had been before. He sat down and didn’t even care that someone else was already in the area let alone 15 ft away. He let the person know he was there but the person just didn’t care, he was going to hunt that area either way.

How about some common courtesy to fellow hunters.

That's pretty crazy. I'm not seeing people or deer or anything but sweat pooring into my eyes. I hate the heat

That is the Rec area on the opener, two weeks and it will be decent

Play hookie from work and go during the week.

That's why I never hunt opening AM there ever! I'd rather shoot doves. Today and then on it will just be the regulars

Sucks that most of your guys hunts got ruined.
I ended up finding that wide forky that I got on video late this morning. He was surrounded by 3 does and a small spike and I couldn't get in on him. For a forky he is way bigger then I expected, looks way bigger then the forky I shot last year.
My little brother got a shot at a forky yesterday at 60 yards but missed. The shot looked perfect until the arrow started dropping shorter then I expected. It must have just grazed the hair of the buck, the arrow was clean and there was no blood. Next weekend should be pretty good.

I hunted Saturday all day and a short morning hunt today til 9. Pretty warm up there. Managed to see some does and a spike and way to many hunters. :-[

On opening day, my buddy and I went to an area that we've been hunting for years. Got to our spots by 4:30, and settled in. At about 5:30, a dude comes down the hill, and my buddy flashed his light at him, so he headed back up and over. That's when I saw him, and flashed my light at him, and he headed away. We think he circled back around, and climbed up into a treestand 45 yards away from my buddy. When we scouted the area, we missed the treestand. So that guy probably thinks we ruined his area. If you're that guy, we apologize.

Anyway, nothing came by except for a fox and some horned owls. I saw 2 bucks on the opposite ridge, but both looked like they had 6" spikes.

My buddy tried to hunt the afternoon, but got rained out. Wheels, it was good to run into you up there!
