They are really messing with the water levels right now. Had to change things up again. Getting burned out on ducks. Hunted quail yesterday morning while trying to find where the ducks went. Hitting them with number 4's steel brings them down. Lol Son shot his first quail. For some reason I thought he had shot them before. Birds are very weary, both ducks and quail.

Up in Central Valley I was told that reservoirs are at 3%. That's crazy. We'd see ducks in whatever little basin held a little water. Pretty dire straits up there it seems.

Thx John. Lots of gads. No teal? No cotton tops ? Bluebill are starting to show in force. Could have shot a bunch of those. Things are dumber than spoonies. ;D

When Otay was in its hay day we used to have some grand diver hunts. Good ol' bluebills sure are a cool duck to shoot late season. I am one of those guys who just like to shoot ducks...period! ;)

Yes. We usually eat sone fresh the same evevening since we hunt at least 2 days. I give some away too. Cook a bunch at my annual "If you killed it let's grill it" get together. Most who show up bring what's been in their freezer. This year it's March 1st. Any if you guys/gals want to show up let me know. Fish fowl and fur is on the menu.

"Do you eat them?" Really longbowhunter, did you ask that. I am sure you were meaning to say something not that

ya I could have asked that better. like how do they taste, or how do you cook them.
I never go duck hunting. so my bad mistake. I shot a bunch of ducks once when I was Kid. but that's about it.

I generally go for quail, pheasant, turkey, rabbits. & deer.

Wild duck is absolutely my favorite. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Below is one of my favorite recipes!
