2021 Whitetail Extravaganza (semi-live)

I'm not criticizing, I just don't like freezing my ass off in a tree stand.....too many memories of waiting for my legs to go numb so my toes didn't feel cold!
I know all about WT rut I cut me teeth on Georgia & Michigan whitetails at 12yrs old freezing my ass off in a climber for 12 seasons.
For me early season rut messing with the big boys making mock scrapes is where it's at!

Bucks don't jump the string when they are tending a scrape they get so fired up peeing and scraping the ground and tearing up the trees.

Good luck!
I didn't think you were criticizing me... I was just explaining why I do it. I don't like the cold either... but I embrace it because the deer move much more. To each their own. Ed F

I'm not a gadget guy... don't fiddle with what works for me. I laugh at the broadhead and caliber debates. I've been shooting Muzzy broadheads for almost 30 years... hit them right and they die... Ed FView attachment 51965

True statement, before we recorded I think I had asked you about what arrows you fling, I was expecting some long response on what and why you use a certain arrow, nope not what happened……. Lol

awesome bud

I sat in my favorite stand this morning... perfect wind. I wasn't very hopeful because the giant field of corn had not been cut and the grass was 3' high. Anyways at 8:15 I look to my right and see 3 does come out of the corn 20 yards from my stand. They were on high alert and smelling my scent on the grass where I walked in. There was no buck with them so I settled in to watch... I couldn't move or they would have made me. After a few minutes I hear a snort wheeze (just like on TV) right behind me... where I can't shoot. I look over my shoulder and see the Whitey buck... I'm going to shoot him if I get a chance... Ed F20211106_084429.jpg

My only chance was for the does to walk down the trail so that I could move... and that's what they did. I have a chance. It took a while but the buck started after them. When he went behind some limbs.... in one ninja motion I grabbed my bow, stood up, turned and drew. I couldn't believe I pulled that off. I dialed my sight in to 13 yards, haha just kidding. I hit him higher than I thought... not happy about that. He bolted and in the first 30 yards he did two nose dives. WTF just happened. I see him walk out to 70 yards before I lost sight of him. Then I heard what sounded like coughing... indicative of a lung shot... WTF now I'm really confused and to be honest, scared. Ed F20211106_102224.jpg

I really thought I hit him in no man's land. Believe it or not I waited a full 2 hours before getting out of the tree. 60 games of solitaire later (no service) I climb down and fully expected a tough tracking job. Great blood trail right to where he lay where I heard him coughing. The arrow wasn't as high as I thought. Because of the angle it came out his chest in front of the opposite shoulder... dead in 15 seconds. Muzzy devastation. Great morning... Ed F 20211106_113302.jpg
