What’s every one thoughts on this round ?

I love my 6.5 CM but came across some guys at pala shooting the PRC in some long range matches and they were swearing but it as a hunting round and match round.

A quick look at the ballistics show on average a few hundred more FPS .

Any thoughts?

I am building one right now. It will be my go to rifle for all my big game when it’s done. Not likely to be done by my X9b Hunt though unless @NBK starts pulling some strings. It would look good with an SCH sticker and a big old yogi or buck this fall just saying.

I think it would be a great cartridge for hunting. Little more horsepower than your Creed so you can shoot the heavier bullets. That would be where this cartridge would give you the real advantage as a hunting round. Just make sure to get the right twist so you can shoot them.

I was thinking a 1:8

I’m new to this whole build game. I’m going to be relying a lot on this platform for information. Soo all the input is appreciated.

No one remembers the 264 win mag or 6.5 rem mag both great rounds way back when (as well as the 6.5 -284). The bore size has all way's had great a b.c.with the proper bullet but folks ignored that and read magazines instead. 6.5's have been out in Europe forever and in the states since the early 60's. I'm amused that folk's are just figuring this out

The 6.5 PRC is a very capable cartridge. It is Hornady's lesser version of the 6.5 SAUM (they did not want to be directly connected to George Gardner). An 8 twist should be more than fine regarding most bullets. If you plan on shooting heavy copper bullets go with a 7.5 twist.

If you need any help or want to know more about how a custom build comes to fruition, let me know. It is a fun process, one you will appreciate and be grateful for after the fact...

Thanks John I will be asking questions for sure!
