Looks like Musk is paring up with T-Mobile to bring sat phone communication to your everyday cell phone (iphone, droid, etc...) with regular phone plans and regular phone operation. Nothing extra is needed. This could be a huge asset to us when it launches. I'll probably jump on the bandwagon which will launch in about a year.

I would fully expect there to be some issues/disappointment with something like this, initially. Whenever you are on the absolute cutting edge with something new there will be problems. I am sure they will get worked out though. No doubt this is the future.

On a serious note, look into "airplane mode" if you have a smart phone. Google or youtube will have some helpful stuff showing you how to use it.

I know a "guy" who tells his wife that the cell reception is really bad or non existent at the duck club. So when he needs to check in, I drive to the highway and take my phone out of airplane mode and make the call alongside the highway. It's nice to not be contacted sometimes.....love airplane mode.
