All in XLR chassis right to left 16" 22CM shooting 80g ELDX, 20" 300PRC shooting 212g ELDX, 16" 7mm Backcountry shooting 170G Terminal Ascent.

Big country I might only see one bull which gun is going on your pack.

I gotta be honest dude ..I don't know any of those calibers...id shoot the one that kills stuff a lot.. like the one you shoot the best ..on elk..I like to shoot them in front of the shoulders..like where the chocolate meets the vanilla.. good night nurse.

Tyler Freel is killing big things with modern 22 cal projectiles. He’s certainly got the credentials to decide for himself if they are suitable or not. I don’t think everyone should use that as an excuse to go do it, but bullet placement and performance are bigger factors than size.

I mean ..some of the you tube flat hatters are killing large mammals with airguns ..albeit most are behind the fence and still have trailer legs and smell like straw...but they are killing them .

I watched small calibers put game down at long ranges for years. Great shot placement rolls game no doubt.

I have killed 8 deer with the 22CM this year and my kid will use it on his coues hunt and I will use it on my Max coues hunt. It's a phenomenal coyote caliber.......

There is no replacement for displacement. I watch dozens of big game animals die every year and the 22CM is not as impressive as a 30cal or 7mm that's for sure. But yes it works but definitely not my first choice especially for elk.

I've been killing game for over fifty years and reloading for about the same amount of time. There has been many progressive improvements with all aspects of rifles, optics , ammo reloading techniques, materials, procedures and equipment since then but what I have learned and experienced over that time is delivered energy to the animal with the projectile that performs and penetrates in the right place on the animal has taught me is that nothing replaces mass and energy delivered to the skin of the animal you are trying to harvest. I've killed elk with a Texas heart shot to the butt and broadside with a 25-06. I'm the most disrespectful person of that theory as I have learned how to kill with a well placed shot and have shot elk and deer and pigs with everything from a .338 Win mag to a 25-06 and .243 Winchester and now am using a .257 Weatherby as my go to choice , If you opt for light weight bullets and small cartridges I strongly suggest you better be spot on accurate with the angle of the shot and bullet placement you send down range. Thats my cents on this....

I thought my .223 and steel BB heavy metal loads out of Karen was a phenomenal for Coyote’s but then again what do I know ?

I have no experience with a 22cm at all but I’d shoot it for sure. Tons of evidence out there that proves game flops when shot with the 22cm, big heavy rounds do the job suburb and obviously a safe bet.

I’m a recoil puss, I can shoot them big guns I just don’t like too lol

Is this our first fight? Lol….. Correct shot placement with a bullet that opens is going to kill an animal every time. If you put a modern projectile that opens through both lungs of a big game animal, it is going to die, soon. But what that ACTUALLY means that most people don’t think about is that you have to WAIT for the right shot within the right range for that bullet. I’ll take a guess that of the dozens of animals you watch die, there are probably some shots taken that you or I wouldn’t have chosen to take.

So, if you want the ability to take opportunities that are… sub-optimal, smaller calibers are not the right choice. But those are two different arguments. What’s gonna get it done no matter what? And what will get it done if I do it right?

Even the giant calibers will wound animals if you compromise on enough variables.

Also worth noting that I don’t own anything in the 22 or 25 categories for big game hunting but I’ve been thinking about a 25-06 or equivalent for a while. So this is purely academic for me, not personal.
