Got a 4th rifle gmu 041. Read everything online and understand it is not a great hunt but for first CO hunt, I'll take it. If any other SoCal has hunted the Grand Juntion/Grand Mesa area and can DM me some pointers 9n what to expect, much appreciated.

Turnout was light. There were maybe a dozen or so total people at the start. Looked like 3 or so were likely birders

Quiet birds up north, they just didn't want to talk. We were about to give up but Jake got his first jake in the bottom of the ninth.

Jacob had res 78. Surprised in the am there were very few at check in and only 6 on sweatline. Turned out to be less than 40jrs. Devon who organizes the kids BBQ and raffle event was there helping everyone out. Thanks to him, Jacob was able to get his first pintail and win some great prizes...

Was a good midday shoot. Wind didn't stop but seems like the birds finally gave up around 230.

8th in the sweatline and 34th. First day, Jacob (8) got his first teal and then 3 more. Steady pick all day for my limit of gads/teal. Second day was a school day, so took a buddy. Slow am but once wind filled in, all you wanted spoonies and a couple of gads. Great end my season. We'll bring...

Wow! Great work. We tried last Wed afternoon with the wind forecasted. Unfortunately everyone thought the same and there were a dozen groups still waiting to refill at 1pm. End up in the Marshes and had just a couple opportunities

It sure sounds different (other than the table) but the impact on us all is still the same. My 8yo drew this on the car in the way home after seeing his first snow goose this weekend. I'd say, similar to you, memories that wil last a lifetime were made.

Not many res showed up. Had a low pick on the sweatline and ended up in a good blind. Had my 8yo and uncle so we missed a lot of opportunities but had plenty. Shovelers and gwt. Sounded like a lot of shooting for what turned out to be a slow count for most others. Stuck around for Sunday hoping...
