I have 8 points and am really itching for an Elk hunt. Do I find a friend that needs a couple points and go elk hunting or wait it out and go for a draw hunt. What do you think. I do have points in other states and a good chance at an AZ tag next season but I could burn these on a general no problem. Thoughts.

I’m applying with 7 and should be plenty for general season. I’d worry about Az later unless you’re getting u23

1 point..public and sadly not near a road...I hate Wyoming...

Just got back from AZ OTC critters. I did well but its the driest I've ever seen it. Full speed on WY I would say.

I just listened to a podcast on this very topic.

I put in for general season.

Hopefully this link will work. It’s the hunt west podcast. I’m sure you can look it up.

Would this be a good one for me as well? I am possibly angling towards special antelope w 5 points. I only have 4 for deer and elk.

If you have a friend in Wyoming that is a resident I’d go for it!
I need to build up points again, but like Ed said my days may be done in Wyoming till I move there!

I think we’re gonna give it a pass this year. I’m starting to get up there in points in multiple states. So one more point this year and we’ll do it next that gives me time to figure out the where. We have have a very good chance of getting an AZ elk tag using some other stashed points. So 2025 elk in AZ hopefully 2026 Wyoming 2027 I should have enough to be competitive in Utah and then hopefully 2028 enough to be competitive in Nevada. I’ll never get the CA bull tag but a guy can hope. And then mix in some deer and lope tags. That’s the plan for now.
