Had an absolutely killer day to round out the duckin’ season yesterday. Hard to imagine it being any better unless we had been able to knock down a few more green heads to make a full two-man limit. Tons of fun though and we were grinning ear to ear. I don’t imagine it gets much better in SoCal.
I have been using the old Wingmaster that I inherited from my uncle, which has a lot of sentimental value to me and never fails to function. It has a fixed full choke though and I find that cycling the pump is somewhat disruptive to smooth follow-up shots. It is also limited to 2-3/4” shells with the existing barrel. Obviously I could get another barrel for it but I’m using the excuse to get a new gun . I ordered a Berreta A300 a few days ago. Might get an opportunity to use it on a late season Goose hunt up north in a few weeks which would be awesome.
Hope you all had a decent season of duckin’ despite the weather this year.

P.S. I think Widgeon are one of the prettiest birds we get regularly down here. Gadwall are ok too .
