Was able to get my 10 year old daughter out for her first hunt yesterday for our opening day here in Oregon. Was a successful day for her!
Started the day off missing a shot on a rabbit, she hung her head and was determined not to miss again.
About 10 min later we stumbled upon a grouse about 60 yards out, She got her .17 ready took a kneel and dropped that sucker!
on the way to our next spot we bumped a rabbit on the road that disappeared into the brush, She looks at me and says "dad if we wait i think it will come back out." So we did and after about 5 min of waiting sure enough it came back out in the opening. We held our position and observed it for a few until it crested a hill. We belly crawled our way into position and with a 75 yard prone shot, one rabbit in the cooler.
Another hour of walking the roads and we caught another grouse sitting on a stump, She set up like a pro and nailed him.
2 Blue Grouse and 1 rabbit and lots of smiles. Proud dad moment for sure. Looking forward to this season with my new hunting buddy!
