    I believe the answer is no to scopes, and if you are granted an exemption the scope can only be 1x with crosshairs.

    I have a tag for this season D16. Did you draw a tag for the MZ or reg season? If you’re going to use your Hawkin and you haven’t done it yet, you should replace the ram rod that came with your rifle. I agree on making it more traditional and harder.

    In CA a blackpowder rifle is not consider loaded unless the rifle is capped. You can leave the powder and ball in the rifle until the season ends. I haven’t shot a deer with mine yet, but because you can’t use a lead ball to hunt with there’s a really good chance you’ll get a pass through with...

    I have this same rifle, it’s fun to shoot. Traditional blk powder is fun to shoot and much cheaper than centerfire.

    Where do you live? Duncan’s in San Marcos carries black powder, caps and balls (lead). To hunt with PRB you’ll need a ball from a company called ITX.

    Great work there’s nothing like hiking with a pack to get ready. I’ve been doing 3-6 miles 4X a week with about 25# to get ready for Sept/Oct, but I’m a little bit older than you guys.

    What's on the Calendar for Fall??

    Will be going pig hunting in July center fire and black powder hunt, Sept deer in OR, cow elk in WY in Oct, then back to OR in late Oct possibly Elk (spike only) then a M6 tag in San Diego in December. My wife is a saint.
