Fricken Frustration #*$@#&$*#!!!!!...... But still had some fun......

Well, took the kiddo out for youth Season opener Saturday. Both of us were pretty excited, hoping for him to get his second turkey ever. We headed up into the hills, and got there 30 minutes early. We were hunting a small patch of land, unfortunately right by the road, but hey, it has birds...

    Youth opener....

It is youth turkey day tomorrow???? Geez, nobody talking about it on both of my hunting websites I go to. I'm paranoid I'll go out tomorrow with my kid and we'll get ticketed for being out of season. Maybe we'll have the woods to ourselves........... LOL

    Good available youth hunts???

Ok guys, thanks for the replies. I do like the sound of getting the point and taking a D16. As for the out of state stuff, that probably would need to wait a year or 2, but something to think about. He's already got a turkey before ,e. and his only deer is bigger weight wise than I've ever...

    Good available youth hunts???

My kid will be 12 this June, so he can start hunting big game here in CA with me (Yeah!). This is my first time though looking through the books for information on youth hunts/tags that are offered. I could just let him apply for a G-13 tag, then buy a D-16 so he can shoot either deer during...

Ok, thanks. We'll just start in a birdy area and see what we can find, then adjust accordingly.

    Youth opener....

Hey Steve, dumb question, but I only get out 3-4 times a year, if that, and have never really hunted in wet weather. Supposed to be wet the next couple of days, but does that change anything in terms of their actions, habits, etc? Come off the roost later, not as vocal, anything like that?

San Diego scores for mule deer

Looks like Steve just beat me to it..... ;) The fires, and increase in food due to regrowth, had a lot to do with the uptick in rack size/tags sold the last 10 years. Along with the social media aspect now, where everyone can show them off, makes for some over anxious hunters......

Youth Weekend, First deer (Out of State)

Thanks everyone! He still can't stop talking about it, a week later. I told him he'll probably tell that story 1,000 times over the next 50 years...... LOL
