Here is a Barnes TSX from a 250# hog. The TSX is the ONLY bullet I will shoot. They just perform flawlessly.

    new to .223 reloading

LP...my magazine max is 2.26", so I'm loading 2.25" to allow a bit of "wiggle room". Can you get a 2.27 in a magazine or are you shooting a bolt gun?

    new to .223 reloading

Sorry LP. Missed your question. OAL is 2.25" for the Barnes 62 grain TSX

    No more predator hunting contests

Not so LP. Unless I am sadly mistaken, you can still have contests. You just can't award any prizes to the "winners".

    Predator contest

I believe that some of the info put out in this threat is not correct. Coyote contests have NOT been banned...only the awarding of prizes. Several news agencies (NPR, the Huffington Post and other news and Internet publications) flash big headlines stating "California bans coyote killing...

    new to .223 reloading

The best advice is to pick a brand of bullet to use and get their reloading manual. My hunting load right now is 24.0 grains of H335 with a Hornady 53-grain bullet. It shoots 0.55" groups from my AR. My down-the-road load when the lead ban goes into effect is 25.0 grains of Varget with a Barnes...

    newb question

Hey, you can kill anything and wear anything, but the real answer is ABSOLUTELY! To have any expectation of success, you need good camo...and don't move. Look at http://www.allpredatorcalls.com/kill-suit-2/

    Rifle

I recently bought a Ruger American in .308 from John at Fine Firearms for just under $400. It's a really sweet rifle for the money and it shoots sub-MOA right out of the box. Trigger is better than good. Great value. It comes in 30-06 also if that's what you want. I don't think you can do better...

    IDAHO BUCK DOWN

I'll be heading there on October 7th to hunt with my brother, who just moved to Ola from Mulege, Baja California. (Now THAT's a big change in area). Looking forward to it big-time!

Lee RGB (really good buy)dies --lesson learned

My dies are RCBS and I've been really happy with them, and they're not that much more than Lee's. The only change I have made to the stock dies was to switch out the locking rings with cross-lock rings. IMHO, the cross-lock rings lock more securely and there's no thread damage. I have had some...

    **SOLD**Smith & Wesson 686 Stainless 6" 357 magnum for sale**SOLD**

I have a 6" S&W 686 357 mag for sale. This is a heavy-frame revolver, sort of a smaller version of a "Dirty Harry". It has the magnum grips and target sights and is an absolute tack driver. This was my original duty weapon when I worked as a CHP officer so it has a few very slight wear marks...

Need suggestions for the .224 Barnes 62-grain TSX BT

After playing with the COAL and a few other things, i just shot a five-shot, one ragged hole group that measured 0.56". I'm done!

Either one should work great. Go with the one that flies best.

    Shotgun Camo Paint Vs. Vinyl

What's wrong with that? :-) I did hear a story about one guy that did a camo paint job on his shotgun. He set it against a bush to retrieve a coyote he shot and it took 15 minutes to find the shotgun when he got back.

    Off season project

Why not just leave it wood? It will get dirty, but it won't be slick. I'll take dirty and secure over clean and slick any day.

Need suggestions for the .224 Barnes 62-grain TSX BT

Now I have two loads for the 62's. 25.0 grains of Varget produced a 0.77" group and 22.5 grains of H335 produced a 0.80" group. I'm still shooting the 53 V-max rounds (0.55" group) until the lead ban goes into effect. I'm done! It's time to kill something!

Need suggestions for the .224 Barnes 62-grain TSX BT

The short answer is that the 2.25" COAL shot better than the 2.23, so the rounds I have made up to test are good to go. On another note...Heard the old joke as to why you hire a teenager? Answer...because they know it all! Anyway, I took my kid out (he's 40) to sight in the 7mm after Leupold...
