    D16 Forky Report

It's a respect thing. If you don't have it, you don't have it. Fwiw, I said an old Scottish prayer (the Grolloch) over mine for the same reason.

    Nope, me too. :grinning:

    D16 Forky Report

Great write up. My buck was kind of the same, we had a long (at least it felt like forever) staring contest before he turned broadside for me. I'm guessing the grass is an offering for him to eat on his journey, I saw that recently in a video somewhere.

Boundaries of the Laguna Mountain Recreation Area

Why would it matter where you were parked? As long as the buck was taken legally, I wouldn't think it would matter. But, as my wife reminds me, I can be wrong.

Boundaries of the Laguna Mountain Recreation Area

Can anyone point me to a map which shows the boundaries of the Laguna Mountain Recreation Area? I know it's an archery only zone but I'm not sure what the boundaries are. I found a spot a couple of months ago when I was out doing things in a place off Sunrise Highway. I'd like to hunt it with...

    BLAZE ORANGE

Maybe we should all wear infrared strobes on our hats and require all hunters to wear NOD's so they can spot the IR strobes? It sort of worked in the Marines. Only had a couple of mishaps . . .

I didn't know that was a thing. Wow.

    BLAZE ORANGE

Last year we had an idiot looking at us through his scope. (I'm guessing he did not have binoculars.) We were waving our orange bandanas and hats and he kept doing it. I pointed my rifle in his direction and he got the message and left. Seriously scary. It's beyond me how stupid someone has...

    BLAZE ORANGE

I was discussing that with a friend on Monday night and that was what he suspects too. CA could not care less if a few hunters kill each other, fewer to worry about. (So short sighted - hunters pay for conservation, etc.)

    Mount Laguna Rut

Right before I got my buck last weekend he was (I believe) sparring with another buck. Not too serious, just clacking antlers.

    BLAZE ORANGE

Agreed. I don't necessarily wear it in if I'm heading out before sunrise, but I wear it while I'm hunting and I put on a blaze orange shirt for the hike out. I also have an orange bandana on the back of my pack and my sitting/scouting pad is orange too.

    A22 Forky Down

Fo shizzle. My daughter has accompanied me quite a few times. She's a vegetarian and wants to be a vet. She wants me to get another deer so she can help me process it. :joy: :joy:

    New freezer

I have an old chest freezer. I'm scared to dig down to the bottom to see what's there. If/when it craps out I'm going to get an upright.

One other thing I want to add to this post, Lessons Learned. What I learned from this hunt was to BE PREPARED TO SUCCEED. I was not, which kind of sucked. I had eaten a late breakfast and wasn't hungry when I left my house. I didn't think it would be a big deal as I would be home by 730 or 8...
