    A Week Hunting D16 Public

I appreciate the knowledge you shared. It helps a lot since I am still a relatively new hunter. I look forward to crossing paths again in the future. Really enjoyed it!

    A Week Hunting D16 Public

I decided to take a week off from work to hunt D16 public land this year. I purchased two D16 tags, so I figured I had my work cut out for me. Saw a lot of doe opening morning. At 11:30, a monster of a buck, who was apparently bumped by someone else, was headed right towards me at a fairly...

    Scouting the "A"

Thanks for the great write-up. The Eastern Sierras are at the top of my list of favorite places. Looking forward to the day when I will draw an X zone tag. Accumulating points now, and working hard in D16 to learn the tricks of the trade while waiting.

    Ground Elk %

I have had good luck with antelope and venison burgers without adding any fat by following the recipe at the link below. In all fairness, I haven’t tried adding fat so I can’t say whether this approach is better or worse than adding fat … but the results are pretty amazing...

**SOLD** 24' Skipjack Open Fishing Boat

Yeah, we certainly caught our share of fish on this boat. Marlin off of North Coronado Island, a boatload of yellow fin tuna just south of South Coronado Island, White Sea Bass off of La Jolla, Calico bass on trips between San Diego and Ensenada and at SCI, Mako shark out of Oceanside, just to...

**SOLD** 24' Skipjack Open Fishing Boat

I own two early Broncos, my dad has one, and my nephew owns the one in the picture. I plan to give one of mine to my daughter after she finishes college. None of us are interested in selling at the moment though. Here is a picture of mine…

**SOLD** 24' Skipjack Open Fishing Boat

I believe it has a 100 gallon tank and a round trip range of about 300 miles. It has plenty of range for a multi day trip to San Clemente island or Ensenada, or any of the local offshore banks. Definitely not a long range boat though.

    First Turkey Hunt

I apologize for the long read ... feel free to skip if you aren’t interested in reading about the experience of a first-time turkey hunter going in solo on public land. I decided to do a combo trip with some preseason deer scouting and a possible turkey hunt if I saw signs of birds in the area...

    Let's talk pellet smokers/grills

I have a Weber bullet charcoal smoker, which is very portable so I still use it in when camping (for example, cooking the turkey at thanksgiving in the desert). But I never use it home now that I have a Traeger Timberline 1300. I am not saying the Traeger is better than other comparable brands...

    Wow!...First Turkey 25 years ago...1996

Thanks for sharing the story. I have been on the fence with regards to getting serious about turkeys. It's a good reminder that there is a first time for everyone for every species and I should simply jump in without letting more time pass by.
