    Lake Henshaw 12/17

I looked at Henshaw after quail hunting this morning. There were a lot of ducks on the lake with some wind and a lot of ducks flying around. Quite a few wigeons. Good luck to those hitting it tomorrow…you might have some success. Would have included a picture but just to grainy with my phone.

    Bad Dog!

Love it. After countless tweaks and variations over the seasons, that is the dog boot setup I ended up with most of the time when in cacti or bad rocks. Same brand booties, todler socks, and wrapped with duct tape. Miss my dog...need to get another one.

    Axil hearing protection Review

Aeon - did you get them? What's your assessment? Anyone have recommendations for some electronic noise cancelling ear buds (for hunting, not really for shooting)? I tried a pair of Walkers but the flexible semi-rigid neck leash picked up some highly annoying sounds when rubbing against a...

    Chukar Outing

It’s part of that huge 175,000 acre parcel the BLM purchased last year near Warner Springs and just opened up to all of us for hunting and fishing opportunities. Yes, ID.

    Chukar Outing

Yes, it was really steep and unforgiving. Took a little over 3 hours to cover 2.5 miles.

    Chukar Outing

Got into 4 nice coveys today. I went 0 for 3 and buddy went 1 for 3. I really despise the little bastards! The outing kicked my ass. Good luck to the others chasing them this season.

    Watch where you step...

Yikes! That is why I wear knee high snake boots about 8-9 months of the year locally. Thanks for posting.

    Quail Season

Hit a D16 spot this morning. Wasn’t able to hunt that long before the winds kicked up. Bumped a sizeable covey that quickly flew to the steep/thick unhuntable area. The covey busted quite a ways out for an opening day hunt and they were not very vocal. Felt like a late season hunt. Kind of odd...

    Quail Season

Yes, good luck to all other as well. It was blowing 20-30 in my quail spot today and strong winds in the AM so hoping it stays calm at least for the morning hours for the Sat opener.

    SoCal Spring Turkey Tune-Up...March 6th

Yes, a great event and a big thank you to all the volunteers! My first Turkey Tune-up event and was impressed. SurfNHunt - Are you saying 590 attended or that 590 raffle tickets were purchased? Just curious. I thought there had to be at least 200 plus attendees.

Last Weekend of the Quail Season

Thanks Hunter. While my main upland for many years was a Browning 20g o/u, this Franchi Instinct SL 12g has been my primary upland for the last several years. The big advantage for me is the weight. It comes in around 6.3 lbs which is probably about ~ 1.75lbs or so lighter than my Browning. It’s...

Last Weekend of the Quail Season

Nice to get out this morning for a couple of hours after the last storm. Birds were much less vocal than I expected. Managed to miss two and get two. Took a buddy out that hadn’t been all year and he had a blast. Was a gorgeous day out today in the backcountry. Lots of quail this season...
