Two things; 1) How many ground squirrels does it take to get a pound of meat? I've eaten tree squirrel before and there sure isn't a whole lot of meat on their bones. I'm saying 6 squirrels to one pound? Just guessing. 2) I've shot ground squirrels with pellet guns, .22s, shotguns, .223...

Re: 39 More days until Dove season True story. Although the last time I was up there for birds only we struck out...completely. But that WAS quail and it WAS late season. I hear the dove up there explode when you shoot them... Get some new tires yet?

Re: 39 More days until Dove season +1. Every single dove is gone. Just tell everyone you know to stay home. I have no where else to go so I'll suffer it out. Think of me when you shoot your first dove. I'll be there getting a tan and heat stroke...

+1. Doug from Doug's Wilderness Adventures has classes every so often in Descanso. My dad, brother, mom, sister in law, cousins, all went there and loved it. Very helpful and very knowledgeable guy. Tell your pops to set it up and you both can go!

I know there are some up around Red Mountain, but from what I hear it's a circus and not the fun kind. Read somewhere that there were two guys shot (accidentally and nothing fatal) on opening day. Aeon is right. Better off finding a hunting club.
