Bears are tough. Both of mine I got while not looking for them, I was looking for deer. I'd stay near a good food source close to water. Find a spot like that and stick near it. Best advice I have.

It sure does! Woke up. Had coffee. Played with the kids. Walked to the stand. Waited an hour. Shot doe. Went to house. More coffee. Walked to doe. Took pictures. Cleaned doe. Done. I was "gone" and "back" by 11 am. Now I just need one with horns to show up!

Carcass cleaned and gutted was 126 lbs. By far the biggest bodied deer I've killed. Supposed to get cold over the weekend so hopefully the rut kicks in and the bucks start chasing.

Shot a doe this am. Finally put the Barnett jackal to work. 28 yards, ran 50, and was all on my property. Needless to say it was a quick morning. Perfect double lung-heart shot. Two inch slice through the heart. Chalk one of my 7 tags down!

Waterfowl is awesome! I only had a small taste of it last year as I was only able to go out twice but that's one of the perks of my job; I know all the farmers and they all have corn fields so late season goose should be a blast. Plus, there's a lake in every direction less than 6 miles away so...

Congrats dude! I can appreciate the struggle of dragging a bear. After dragging my last one up hill, I vowed to shoot another only if it were near a road!

Bears are certainly a pain in the a$$ to get signed off. Back in 2007, you could have them signed off by any number of state or federal employees, much like a deer. My first bear, taken in 2007, I had signed off by the Yosemite Park Ranger right at the gate to the park. Went to the toll booth...

I think I'd shoot that weird bull before I shot the typical one. That thing looked gnarly!
