CWA working on W11 and Y15

I agree islands are not the most ideal but hunting hazard on a big dyke on the end of a huge pond is also not ideal.

CWA working on W11 and Y15

I heard a rumor this year that hazard was going to get some work this year? Possibly by CWA? Hazard can be tough to hunt when you have a giant pond and are stuck in the pit blinds on the edge of the pond. I always though that hazard would hunt much better if they moved all the blinds 50 yards...

    Anyone hunting turkey this spring?

Heard they can be good but really hard to draw. If you do draw keep in mind it’s a far drive and you only are allowed to hunt until 12 or 1 pm.

    San J

Girlfriend drew #33 for San Jacinto today. I’ve only hunted there a handful of times in the past so I got a little advice from Steve and Tom gave me similar advice this morning. Was a slowish start to the morning but we picked away at them. Fairly often there would be flurries of spoonies coming...

Where do you get your arrow weed for blind material?

Keep an eye out for it during the day and make a note of where you see the good tall stuff. My spots change year to year sometimes. Not uncommon to have a good spot and then the next year you find the county came through and cleaned that whole canal free of it

    Steel Shot

Lead is definitely better than steel but I don’t have too much issues shooting dove and quail with steel #7s. Kills them just fine

    How was opening day?

For the girlfriends first hunt she drew #6 at wister. Almost the thought the whole hunt was over before it began when she saw the 2 giant spiders at the check station but she powered through it. It took her a few minutes to get her first but once she did she started wacking them. We finished in...

    Electronic Ear Protection

I was looking at those but saw multiple reviews that said they won’t hold a charge after a year or so. I was going to look if they make them that uses replaceable batteries vs rechargeable

    Shells

Had a hell of a time finding some 20 gauge in the IE recently. Called everywhere no one had it in stock. Bass pro and sportsman’s didn’t have any available online to ship to store. Big 5 had some. The federal was $14 a box and the Winchester was a whopping $28 a box. Ridiculous especially when...
