I think that fire was in '03 and caused by arcing power lines due to the Santa ana's
Live bait is the best. Bring a sabiki rig. Squid will work good for rock fish, shrimp can haul you some sheepshead. Live bait though man, always good. Better chance at some butt. Plastics work great for the bay too. Set up a drop shot rig, that works too. Good luck!
I share your guys experience as well. I saw more hunters than does, more does than bucks, and more balloons & trash than scrapes. I've had zero luck in 16. I spent every weekend this season in CNF & BLM. Sat through rain & light snow. The only shots I took this year were of sunsets & sunrise's...
I'm in the field now. Been on site since 4am and glassing since 6:40am. So far I've glassed up 2 hunters and 2 balloons. So much action going on today I can't contain myself. The winds also been screaming in my ear too. Lol Still better than sitting at home !

Bummer! I'm just seeing this. Thinking about trying out turkey hunting this season. My duck hunting partner moved out of town so turkey is the next option. I'm to nervous to hunt duck now not knowing all the regs
