Glad to hear its going so well now! That heart stuff is terrifying though.
Mine was retracted 14cm and I had be in bed 24/7 without any weight bearing for 6 weeks post surgery. Hopefully you can salvage this fall after all! I was able to get out and hunt ahead of schedule and kill some stuff.

That could all change with good rain for a few years. I guess the same could be said for our local ones.
Nevada will really hurt you when it comes to hunting and fishing opportunities as tags are fewer and far between, that wold be a deal killer for me. AZ will let you fish and hunt multiple big game animals almost year round and tags can be easily attained. I would give Kingman a really hard look...
Northern UT, Western WY, and Eastern ID would put you in a good pocket for multi-state access all within close driving distance.
I think traveling for a while is a good idea though. Knowing a place is tough until you live there for a while.

Have you looked into the effectiveness of "regular gaiters?"
From a pragmatic standpoint, I like it because it's one less thing to buy/store/remember/bring. However, they obviously are not snake pants. Boots + pants + gaiters would seem to provide some level of protection. Thoughts?
Either would work great, you won't go wrong and just need to choose your preference. The 300 will have more recoil and be harder to shoot accurately but will be more damaging on impact. 7mm is easier to shoot accurately and plenty of power to kill just not on quite the same level.
