That’s a big one Steve! Western Diamondback. The IV is about the furthest west they’re found, before giving way to Southern Pacifics, Reds, sidewinders and Mojave Greens.

Quail hunting in the IV a couple of years ago My buddy John drew the short straw and had to crash through some thick brush to flush out some birds. We waited to shoot em as they flew out, and when John dove in we heard OH SHIT..BAM! He came out with this:

My friends in Texas and Oklahoma who trade in rattlesnakes commercially say they are the best and swear by them.

Have you looked into the effectiveness of "regular gaiters?"

From a pragmatic standpoint, I like it because it's one less thing to buy/store/remember/bring. However, they obviously are not snake pants. Boots + pants + gaiters would seem to provide some level of protection. Thoughts?
