    "Newbie" from San Diego

Welcome aboard Tom, You said you've hunted NY and PA but you are referencing your hunter saftey course. If you have an old license you might be able to by pass the course and get out a little soonerr. Most of SoCal's hunting is over by January (pigs are open all year though), Just food for thought.

Ha Ha, I hope you at least had a fun time hunting. I've been blanked plenty of times but if you had fun and got out of the house it's still a good day in my books.

    San Jacinto Wildlife Area?

Hey desert made it out to San Jac WA today, talked to the warden out there and just FYI you can not hunt ducks on the upland side. He said only rabbits, quail, dove and snipe (if you want to hunt snipe)

Hunting is important to me because.....

Hunting is important to me for so many reasons, First and foremost it connects me with an instinct that has been passed on by many generations. Secondly, I love the rush and feeling of busting a covey of quail, having the focus to pick out one bird at a time and watch them fold and roll with a...

    San Jacinto Wildlife Area?

Thanks Desert, I was wondering that, if you are running steel and jump some ducks on the upland side can you shoot them?. I didn't get to stop today. The project my wife volun-told me for was far more than... "Hey, can Dave swing by and put up some pics in our office?' Turned into about, 30...

    San Jacinto Wildlife Area?

Thanks Desert, I was just jumping on to thank Baja again for the link because I just saw the same thing :-(, good news is I will take a box of 6shot with me and go see what's cracking on the upland game side. While I'm there I'll get all the info for the Wednesday hunts. Might be an extra trip...

    San Jacinto Wildlife Area?

thanks Baja! That's the info I was looking for. I am going this water fowling thing solo. I prefer to hunt public land for upland game but not sure of where any is yet for ducks. I've found some south but figured if I'm gonna be right there might as well give it a go. At minimum it will be great...

    San Jacinto Wildlife Area?

So I have some free time tomorrow and my wife is having me run up to Riverside to help a coworker for an hour or so. Not gonna waste the trip. However, I have never hunted the wildlife area and want to but can not get a hold of anyone for reservations or to try and figure out which permit I need...

What happened to the true hunter

I debated myself a while before posting this... But I am with breacher, I don't have stats on this computer but if memory serves correctly, state wide success rate is somewhere in the neighborhood of 7%. DFG has set regs on what is and what is not a legally harvestable animal. That being said...

    ready and willing

Hello all, I'm Dave and I am in southwest Riverside county (specifically Murrieta). My wife HATES that I hunt 95% by myself. I'll hunt just about anything and have the equipment to do it. I usually have days free til noon (but can coordinate for child care if needed) so if anyone wants to go or...
