From what Ive been reading If its both you and the wife youll need a 3 person tent to fit both of you and your gear. Go to the Adventure 16 down near Farimount Ave. Rent one before you buy it. They have some cool stuff there.

While not as bad as the Ramona flooding my backyard flooded pretty quick. Had to dig up the crappy drain someone didnt install correctly.

Since Im already carrying a tripod with me I bought a yoke that attaches to a quickshoe. I can change between binos and shooting platform quickly.

Bill, Adventure 16 near Fairmount Ave in San Diego has some good gear you cant rent. Could give you some options to try before you buy. Older gentlemen in there is an archer as well. May be of some great help.

Im just getting started on this so Ill give a little input. I decided to go with a freestanding 1 person tent, a lightweight pad, and a 20 degree bag that can open at the bottom to let my feet out. I believe Im at 6lbs with that combo. Kept all this to about $170.00 or so. So far it has worked...

They are a 1/2 size too big for me and I went with gaiters.
