I got a Primos Hot Dog open reed call, getting the hang of making all kinds of kool noises with it. ;D
I know what you mean about the corn. I see a lot of scat with mesquite beans in it. I think it's hungry youngsters that haven't learned to hunt very well yet.
Welcome to the forum. I don't hunt birds, at least not at the moment, but I live down in the valley so I might be able to point you to some. Wee bit hot right now though too.
Re: Predator contest 2014
I'm all about savin' Bambi, not killin' him. Deer hunting here is tough, don't have the time or gas $ it takes to be successful. I enjoy hunting problem critters and can do it relatively inexpensively since I live in the middle of it.
Yessir ;D Get off work, go shoot yote, go home, eat dinner, sleep, repeat.
Desert yotes are scraggly but apparently less pressured and come to the call.
Saved some fawns tonight I reckon.
Think I got me a huntin' pard too
One of the guys I'm hunting for had a professional depredation guy come out a couple years ago and got 11 or 12 in one place in two nights. I don't think the coyotes are having any trouble keeping up. Super adaptable little omnivores. Our "invasion of their habitat" increases their numbers...
Caught this mature female skulking by looking for some mouth call pups in distress about 5 or 10 min into the stand, approx 125yd head shot. Hunting rough terrain is different, they seem much smaller and more places to hide/travel unseen.
