Drive and intelligence. My project Lab with zero hunting lines just crushed it this duck season. But, her prey drive is strong and she is smart. She was pulling dead ducks off my tail gate when she was just a pup. Loved looking for dead ducks on the property. You do the best you can and hope...
Trig and others know this but it really is worth repeating. If we don't mentor others then the hunting tradition will die with us. There are alot of new hunters out there in state and out of state. We can be civil and still not disclose specifics on where to go to find a great Buck. Rather...
Hunter resentment from locals towards outsiders is everywhere. You think those hunters in X12 and X9a are happy not getting a tag in their own backyard unless they have over 7 points? They are not happy with us showing up. When we get a draw, we just keep a low profile and tell them we are fly...
They are not staffed for that. It is busy enough when it's close to 3 with everyone showing up. You have to process the cards and put them into a computer for the draw and then post the results. Current system works.

You have no idea how much I envy you guys. You guys got into legit pheasants in So Cal before it was over developed. You guys were hunting San Diego Bay. Deer were everywhere with far less pressure. And hunting Wister when the Sea had way more water to hold ducks. I have had great duck hunts...
The Franchi is great for the money. I have killed a lot of ducks with it. Super easy to break down to the firing pin. Definitely my go to gun. You just need to stay on top of cleaning it

Nikita's first duck season ended very well. She did a great job and learned a lot. She got a lot of retrieves in. The Wigeon worked great today and came in on the call really well. For those of you hunting Sunday have fun and be safe.

Interesting discussion. My ProStaff 9x40 is zero at 200. It has BDCs on it but I know the drop is 7.25 inches when I go out to 300 so I just aim a little higher. I think it is fine for out to 300 but I am looking at a Leopold just so I have better glass for the 400 yard shots.

Most of the Blinds permit a 50 yards distance from the stake. There are some that permit a 100 yards. Grab the white map and it should be written on the back the maximum distances allowed from the stakes at various locations. Most areas you can forage stuff to brush up the blind. There is arrow...
Trig: The young one is on the left. Super impressed with her. Zero hunting lines but her drive is a 10. The one on the left is my 8 year old. Field Trial Lines and just lethal.
