San Jacinto - best blind to take non hunting female for first time hunt?

The action was great. But, I really felt bad about losing the ducks I shot. I wasn't taking long shots and I was trying as hard as I could to recover them.

San Jacinto - best blind to take non hunting female for first time hunt?

Thanks. Married 32 years. She did not like my guns when we first got married. Now, she loves to goe to the range with me. Shoots handguns and rifles. And, this year has started going on multiple hunts. So, there is hope if anyone has a spouse less than enthusiastic about firearms and...

San Jacinto - best blind to take non hunting female for first time hunt?

My wife had the time of her life. She completely understands why we love this so much now. With the help of ilovesprig, we picked a great spot. She was most surprised about how much action happens in the first 30 minutes. She has gone with me on a few quail hunts in the MNP. Duck hunting is...

San Jacinto - best blind to take non hunting female for first time hunt?

Hello. I have a great draw (mid teens) for this Saturday at San Jacinto. For the first time in my 15 years of duck hunting, I am taking my wife along as an observer. I got her a pair of waders so she is comfortable and dry. I know Tom is amazing and will steer us to a good spot. Saturday...

    First Time San Jacinto

Here is another tip that works for me… The shoulder muscles you use to raise and hold a shotgun steady are very small and weak. So… 7 days before every duck hunt, I go into the garage and practice mounting my gun for at least 5 minutes a day. I grab my AirPods, put on a song, and do it until...

    First Time San Jacinto

The problem with skeet for practice is that your leads are different for steel. The velocity is different and the way steel slows down faster in flight is different. Actually, too much skeet before a duck hunt can really screw you up. duck hunting with steel - I shorten my lead on ducks...

Question - do non shooters need a type A wildlife pass?

No. The type A pass has nothing to do with the vehicle. As hunters, every hunter needs one. But, my questions is if NON HUNTERS also need one.

Question - do non shooters need a type A wildlife pass?

I have a #16 reservation for SJ on the 1st. For the first time ever (15 years), my wife wants to go along just to watch. Do I need a wildlife pass for her? Has anyone else ever done this? Any tips for an enjoyable experience? Thanks.

    Slow

I remember letting spoonies go by all the time in the 2000s. Now, I might not ever bother hunting ducks next season. It’s just not worth it any more. The opener is always good. November has always sucked. But, December used to be great. The last few years, December has sucked too in So...

Thanks for the update. If you want to know why we are experiencing the weather problems and drought, it is man made. But, not they way they want you to believe. You and I are not causing this. It is an engineered plan by the same people destroying other parts of this country...

Quail and chukar - strategy question

Waterdog, is that pic from Red Mountain? That fence in the middle of a wash looks real familiar.

Quail and chukar - strategy question

I typically walk 5 miles through the desert looking for quail and chukar. Up hills and down hills. As a result, I will shoot quail or chukar on the ground, air, sea, and land. I'll find where they live and shoot them in their sleep if I could : ) I've earned it.
